Scouts is a youth movement founded by Lord Robert Baden-Powell. The Scout motto is ‘Be Prepared’. There are many things to do with Scouting. Firstly, Scouting involves doing certain activities, for example, first aid, pioneering, camping, navigating, compass work and many more things. But this isn’t all to Scouting, the main idea of Scouting is to have fun.
This is what Sharnbrook Scouts encourage, and everyone between 8½ to 18 is welcome. We hold our Explorer and Scout ‘meetings’ every Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Cub meetings on Friday from 6.00p.m to 7.30 p.m. every two weeks at the Scout hut in Sharnbrook. Please feel free to give it a go.
Also we hold camps at Yelnow Lane campsite, for example a bivouac camp, a survival camp and also a chip shop hike. Plus the District organise camps as well. For example a cycle camp in Thetford Forest, a camp at Cromer in Norfolk, a camp at Phasels Wood in Hertfordshire and a canal boat camp on the Grand Union Canal.
The idea of these camps and meetings is to help you develop skills, but most importantly to have fun!
