Given the recent warm weather and predictions for a long, hot summer, please can I remind you all that “walk-in” burglaries can be prevented. Of course, the best advice is to keep doors and windows locked but here are some ideas to help you stay safe at home:
- Consider using a door chain on your backdoor if you need to ventilate the house
- Review your window security and see if you can lock window restrictors (it may be possible to retro-fit lockable restrictors)
- Consider fitting a contact buzzer alarm to backdoors and ground floor windows so you know if someone is entering the house
Please bear in mind, these measures should only be used if you are in the house at the time. Please lock up your homes securely if you decide to go out.
Finally, if you see any suspicious activity or a crime in progress, please call the police on 999. Please call 101 if you discover a crime has already been committed.
Many thanks and kind regards
