Despite the on-going reductions in Government funding for policing (£400,000 police grant cut for 2016/17) Bedfordshire Police has protected frontline officer numbers by delivering savings through efficiency programmes and joint working with other forces.
In November’s Autumn Statement the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced that there would be no cuts to the overall policing budget. However, in terms of individual Force budgets, this is reliant on local people contributing more (around 2%) through the police portion of their council tax bill. I am therefore asking for your views on an annual increase of 1.99%, which is approximately an extra £3 per annum for an average (Band D) household.
I would also be grateful for your feedback on policing priority areas and your confidence in Bedfordshire Police.
Thank you for your time,
