Proposed Temporary Road Closure – Templars Way, Sharnbrook

I have a request for a temporary road closure at the above location for remedial work. Details are listed in the schedule below and having assessed the application I am satisfied the request is justified.

The alternative routes for diverted vehicles are as shown below and will be signed accordingly. The restrictions are to be in operation only when the necessary signs are erected on site. The Legal Order will be made to cover a six month period; however, it is anticipated that the closure will be in operation 24 hours a day from Tuesday 8th September 2015 to Monday 16th November 2015 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time.

Please Note: Due to the nature of the work it will not be possible for emergency service vehicles to go through this closure.

Road: Templars Way, Sharnbrook.

Reason: For remedial work.

Length Affected: From Rushden Road (the A6), to Kennell Hill/Mill Road.

Dates: The closure is anticipated to be in operation 24 hours a day from Tuesday 8th September 2015 to Monday 16th November 2015 – Specific dates will be advertised locally closer to the time – Where possible access will be maintained to property and premises but may be restricted from time to time according to local signing.

Alternative Routes – High-sided Vehicles (route 1): High-sided vehicles heading northbound on the A6 to visit Sharnbrook should proceed to New Road, Milton Ernest, turn left and continue to Radwell Road. Turn right and continue through Radwell onto The High Road, Felmersham. Continue through Felmersham onto Felmersham Bridge, Sharnbrook, and then continue to Odell Road, Sharnbrook. Turn right and continue to Lodge Road. Turn left and continue to Colworth Road. Turn right and continue to High Street. Turn right and continue onto Kennell Hill to site.

High-sided vehicles exiting Sharnbrook should follow the reverse of this alternative route or the reverse of the ‘High-sided Vehicles (route 2)’, whichever is appropriate.

Alternative Routes – High-sided Vehicles (route 2): High-sided vehicles heading southbound on the A6 to visit Sharnbrook should proceed to the Souldrop turn opposite the Shell garage, turn right and then continue to Souldrop. Bear left onto Sharnbrook Road, Souldrop, and continue into Sharnbrook. Continue along High Street and then Kennell Hill to site.

High-sided vehicles exiting Sharnbrook should follow the reverse of this alternative route or the reverse of the ‘High-sided Vehicles (route 1)’, whichever is appropriate.

Alternative Routes – Low-sided Vehicles: Low-sided vehicles should proceed in an easterly direction along Mill Road to the roundabout adjoining the A6. Take the 1st exit onto the A6 northbound and continue to site, and vice versa.

The width restriction on Sharnbrook Road/the UC16, Souldrop, will be temporarily revoked while this closure is in operation in order to aid traffic management.

N.B. The applicant is responsible for taking down all Bedford Borough Council public notices immediately after the works requiring the Order have been completed.
